This position is currently OPEN in Norfolk, Virginia. Job Description This position provides technical support to field support personnel, internal and external Wasabi customers as well as Wasabi distributors. As you apply systems level technical expertise in quickly resolving standard to moderately complex systems level customer issues, you will provide resolutions to an assortment of problems within defined practices and procedures. This position requires a self-motivated person with a strong desire to take on tasks and projects as necessary to address a particular problem. Principal Duties - Provides advanced level technical support to internal, domestic and international Wasabi customers within the support center.
- Works as part of a team ensuring smooth transitions for customer and field reported software issues.
- Responsible for sharing all acquired knowledge concerning problem resolution with field, and other departments as appropriate.
- Contributes to centralized problem identification and resolution database.
- Monitors and tracks all software service calls, provides call status updates at regular intervals and communicates status to customers using centralized support system.
- Resolves complex or unusual software problems. Supports field sales and service initiated requests for assistance in resolving software problems in the field.
- Responsible for the translation and dissemination of acquired knowledge concerning problem resolution with peers, field, and as appropriate, customers.
Job Requirements - University degree in Computer Science or equivalent preferred
- BSD, Red Hat or UNIX Certification
- SNIA, VCP, MCSE or CCNA nice to have
- Wasabi software or competitor product experience related to iSCSI and/or NAS nice to have
- 2+ years in a technical customer support or customer facing role
- Exceptional troubleshooting and customer service skills
- Expertise in Windows, BSD, Linux or UNIX preferred, including administration, scripting
- Administrator level skill with Host Operating System including Windows and/or UNIX (Linux, Solaris, AIX, HPUX)
- Virtualization experience
- Strong skills in Layer 2/3, including routing, switching, fibre channels, iSCSI networks and HBA's
- Clustered servers, load-balancing, fail over
- Active Directory
- Security layers
- Switches: Brocade, Mc Data, Cisco
- Application memory management
- HTTP Protocol Extensive experience in a BSD, Linux or Unix test environment
- 4 years minimum experience in commercial software development using structured development processes
- Strong interpersonal communications skills
- IA/x86, PowerPC, XScale and/or MIPS experience preferred
- BS/MS in Computer Science strongly preferred
