Norfolk, Virginia - October 31, 2006 – Wasabi Systems today announced that the latest Wasabi Storage Builder® for IP-SAN software solution will be shown at Storage Networking World, Orlando, Florida, October 31 – November 3. In AMD’s Technology Showcase booth Wasabi will demonstrate 64-bit IP-SAN (iSCSI) and NAS storage systems powered by Wasabi Storage Builder running on AMD Opteron™ processor-based platforms from AIC/Xtore and Tyan, offering up to 12TB of storage in a single 3U enclosure.
The most recent version of Wasabi Storage Builder for IP-SAN adds exceptional levels of support: support for VMWare ESX Server 3.0, support for logical volumes in excess of 2TB, and support for LSI Logic MegaRAID controllers. In addition, the featured system will demonstrate WasabiRAID™, an integrated RAID capability that provides additional reliability, scalability and cost reduction options to Storage Builder-based IP-SAN solutions. Storage Builder for NAS v1.1 adds an integrated iSCSI initiator to easily scale storage capacity by utilizing iSCSI targets, and a native utility for tape backup.
Wasabi’s demonstration will show the enterprise level integration of it’s NAS platform using external iSCSI targets for scalable storage. Both Wasabi Storage Builder for NAS and Wasabi Storage Builder for IP-SAN feature advanced iSCSI error recovery supporting ERL 0,1 and 2 and NIC bonding to enhance reliability. With Wasabi Storage Builder for NAS advanced scheduled snapshot capability, up to 4096 snapshots are supported. By combining a cost effective NAS head with multiple iSCSI targets uses gain enterprise capabilities at exceptionally competitive prices starting at under $2,000 per Terabyte.
“Storage Networking World is one the premier storage shows in the US that brings together IT end users, storage OEMs and their ecosystem partners in one venue,” said Frank G. Logan, Wasabi’s President and CEO. “We are extremely pleased to provide one of the key technologies being demonstrated in the AMD booth. Our Storage Builder product is a true 64-bit solution, making it a perfect match for AMD Opteron and AMD Athlon 64™ processor-based platforms.”
“Wasabi Storage Builder software and hardware platforms from AIC/Xtore and Tyan enable SAN and NAS solutions to take full advantage of the industry-leading throughput,
reduced memory latency and scalability of AMD64 technology for storage,” said Pat Patla, Director, Server/Workstation Marketing, AMD. “And Wasabi’s recent support for VMWare ESX Server is an outstanding compliment to the storage virtualization they already provide. This makes it possible to deliver a high performance, cost-effective, completely virtualized solution.”
