Multi-dialect capability expands usage further into small- and medium-sized businesses with flexible configuration and support of network block and file storage. Wasabi Systems today announced the latest addition to its VMX family of iSCSI SAN products, VMX Multi-Dialect (MD). With this added functionality, users can now define a storage environment that includes both iSCSI and NAS technologies, significantly simplifying storage administration while adding flexibility. The NAS functionality includes support for both NFS and CIFS and takes advantage of the advanced storage pool technology in VMX to facilitate thin provisioning and snapshots for both block and file volumes. Features of Wasabi VMX - MD include:
"The addition of NAS capability to our high performance iSCSI SAN appliances affords great flexibility for users who have variable shared storage needs," said Frank Logan, Wasabi's President and CEO. "Now a single storage platform can be configured in an optimal way to match the application needs of users who can not justify the cost of multiple storage appliances." Wasabi's VMX appliances are purpose-designed to meet the requirements of the SMB market, achieving enterprise class requirements for reliability and yielding the highest overall performance of any iSCSI SAN in the market - and they are much less expensive than competing solutions with comparable performance. The VMX series easily installs within a standard IP network without requiring any specialized adapters or switches, and allows for consolidation of direct DAS resources into an easily managed centralized virtual storage pool. The appliances are fully compatible with all common business productivity applications and all leading operating systems, including VMware ESX Server, Microsoft Windows, and Linux.
