NORFOLK, VIRGINIA – April 26, 2006 – Wasabi Systems today announced that AIC/Xtore will be demonstrating its Modular IP-SAN powered by Wasabi Storage Builder64™ at that the National Association of Broadcasters show (NAB) in Las Vegas this week, April 24 – 27. AIC/Xtore is showing the Xtore Extreme Storage drive IP-SAN platforms with Western Digital’s (WD) latest generation of enterprise-class SATA drives. Announced earlier this month, the WD RAID Edition drives provide best-in-class performance, reliability and vibration tolerance. The modular IP-SAN appliance allows up to 2TB storage capacity in a 1U rack or 6TB storage capacity in a 2U format. The result of a collaborative effort by AIC/Xtore, Wasabi, AMD, Tyan and Western Digital, the IP-SAN platforms leverage the technology offered by AMD64 processors and are the first network storage platforms based on Wasabi’s Storage Builder64, a true 64-bit network storage software platform. “IP Storage is rapidly gaining ground in the broadcast media and post-production markets. It is easy to manage and scales quickly in these dynamic environments,” said Michael J. Kress, Wasabi’s vice president of worldwide sales. “We have had numerous OEM installations over the last 18 months with excellent results. AIC’s modular IP SAN represents breakthrough pricing and value to this market segment.” “IP-SAN is the key to flexible, scaleable and manageable storage. Together with Wasabi, we have created a world-class storage package at an affordable price,” said Gene Lee, vice president of AIC/Xtore. We are excited to demonstrate our joint solution at NAB.” The Xtore Extreme Storage XI-104S-TAB-WB-1A is a 1U 4xSATA drive IP-SAN platform running Wasabi Storage Builder64 and is capable of providing up to 2TB of raw storage capacity. Systems will ship with the Wasabi storage software embedded on the motherboard. Customers may order the complete appliance, tested and ready for installation, from Bell Microproducts. The Xtore Extreme Storage XI-212D-TAB-WB-1A is a 2U 12xSATA drive version with a raw storage capacity of up to 6TB. The system includes hot-swap redundant power supplies for high availability requirements. The platforms are based on AMD64 technology which offers customers industry-leading x86 application performance, cutting-edge processor architecture, and future-proofing with fully backward compatible 32- and 64-bit, multi-core computing. Tyan supplies the system boards for the new appliance series, featuring state-of-the- art platform designs based on AMD64 technology. Tyan offers exceptional platform performance at competitive price points. Bell Microsystems plans to distribute the complete solution with initial availability in early Q2 of 2006.
